"The ultimate tale of star-crossed lovers"
For centuries, Adams have hunted vampires without question,
that is until Preston Adams wants nothing to do with the
family preoccupation. However, the patriarch, Preston's
grandfather warns him either kill an undead or else.
Centuries ago, Gabrielle Warwick chose to become a vampire
rather than succumb to illness. However, unlike most of
her species, Gabrielle refuses to drink human blood,
seeking other alternatives. She knows she will never feel
safe as long as the Adams family lives. Preston reluctantly goes after Gabrielle, but when they
meet, neither on can harm the other. Instead, they feel
they know each other perhaps in a previous life or just
because of the powerful attraction between them. When they
flee together, their respective broods declare both of them
traitors who must die. ENEMY MINE is the ultimate star-crossed lovers' story
line. The brave lead couple is exciting, as they both
understand what sacrifices and dangers love brings to them
yet willingly do so. The support cast adds a feel of
authenticity that makes vampires and their hunters seem
genuine. Although a strong supernatural tale that Buffy
lovers and vampire aficionados would enjoy, this jewel of a
plot centers on the star-crossed lovers. (This review reflects the original 2000 e-book release)
