"A fast-paced, exciting romantic suspense with paranormal elements"
In Los Angeles, investor Kenneth Chandler wants to buy
Ray's Hamburgers from Scarlett Ray as part of a plan to own
the entire block. When Scarlett refuses to sell her
deceased mother's beloved diner, Chandler sends a thug to
force her to sign over the restaurant. When she tries to
hurt him with hot grease, he shoots her, leaving her to die
so that his boss could buy the property at a state sale. While recovering in the hospital, Scarlett concludes the
police will not be able to stop Kenneth from killing her.
She turns to stranger Jake Miscusi who she somehow knows
will be there to protect her forever. A heavenly guardian,
Jake feels guilt because his last two clients died in spite
of his efforts. As he tries to keep her safe, Jake falls in
love with his charge and willingly risks his eternal soul
for his beloved Scarlett. DARK ANGEL is a fast-paced blending of an exciting romantic
suspense with paranormal elements. The thriller works
because Jake and Scarlett seem so genuine with he being a
DARK ANGEL and she a woman in trouble. Jake is frustrated
by his "preferential" treatment and his failure to protect
lives in spite of his so-called heavenly mission. The
romance is complete with both knowing eternal love for them
is impossible, as he must return to his way station between
assignments. The suspense is taut and will have the
audience wanting more tales like this by clever Cassandra
Collins, who already has a growing reputation for her
romantic romps (under the name of Colleen Collins). Harriet Klausner / December, 2000
