"Fabulous lead characters, action sequences, riveting plot"
A Touch of Fire by Barbara Clark, the third in a series,
itself stands alone as a great novel. Having not read the
two previous works by Ms. Clark, I can honestly say I have
definitely been drawn into her world, very effectively I
might add. This was a wonderful addition to the emerging
paranormal ebook genre. Even though her characters have a
previous history, she brings enough past information to
this third work that we can easily see the character
histories and previous character interactions. The story
line continues as if uninterrupted and weaves well with her
world's history. She makes this woman's terrific paranormal gifts seem
realistic and possible. I could actually envision Summer
Starr standing on the cove and calling out to the earth
with her special gifts, I could picture the magnetic fields
of the earth responding to some unseen, directed force. I
was drawn into her meditations and felt the spell she was
weaving. It was equally easy to envision the tortured past
of Michael Forest and his passion to make things right.
The descriptions of his past, the things he suffered, drew
me into his lonely existence, his need for love, compassion
and strength that only a lover could bring him. I could
sense his torment and feel his pain. These fabulous lead characters, coupled with some
wonderful, intense action sequences, and some riveting plot
twists made this book one I was truly unable to put down.
The emotionally charged love scenes were touching and
stimulating. By keeping the rating PG-13, Ms. Clark gave a
wider audience the availability of this wonderful novel,
though in my personal opinion, I would have liked to see it
edge slightly towards the "R" level in the sensuality of
the sexual encounters between Michael and Summer. Barring
this small desire, wholly on my part alone, this book
definitely rates a 4.5 out of 5. I only wish it were
longer, 160 pages just wasn't enough in my opinion, I could
have easily read another 169. Highly recommended for a wide
reading audience. Katherine L. Schlem / November, 2000
