"Another Great Thriller"
When Detective Conner Nolan comes up missing, everyone
thinks he's just off on another drinking binge. Or maybe
he's drinking and shacked up with a woman. Maybe he's even
on a drug binge once they find out about his past.
Everyone that is except for his partner Rhianna Marek.
Rhianna knows in her heart that none of this could be
true. The longer he is gone the more concerned she
becomes. After Conner has been missing for awhile
Rhianna is finally able to convince her fellow officers
that something is wrong. They launch an investigation to
find him. Although their relationship has only thus far
been platonic Rhianna has loved Conner for quite some
time. During the investigation she finds quite a few
things out about him. Things his shrew of a sister makes
to inform her of. After Conner has been missing for some time Rhianna decides
to move into his home. To be there when he does eventually
turn up. Not only does Rhianna have to deal with Conner
missing she has to deal with his sister and C.C.
Corbettson. Corbettson is a fellow officer obsessed with
Rhianna and determined to have her whatever way necessary. When Conner does finally turn up he is a drug addict and
has to be hospitalized. Problem is he was an unwilling
addict. When Rhiannna and his fellow officers investigate
they find that this has happened to others from Conners
past. Someone that's holding a grudge from the past has
been kidnapping them, forcefully getting them addicted to
drugs and then letting them go to have to deal with the
repercussions of that addiction. The questions that need answering are who is doing this?
Why are they doing it, and what do they have planned next?
All of these questions will have you on the edge of your
seat until you find the answers. The last question is how
will this story turn out? The answer to that is not quite
what you will expect. I must say I have not yet read a book yet by Charlotte
Boyett-Compo that I didn't like, and this one is no
exception. At the risk of sounding redundant this book is
great. Carol Castellanos / June, 2000
