Professor Simon Parkes is an instructor of the paranormal.
In fact, he is more than that - - he is a practicing
Wiccan who has attained the level of a Guardian. His
specialty is protective spells and wards - - and he has
got a problem. An evil entity is trying to enter the
temporal plane and take over the bodies of unsuspecting
mortals. It is Simon's job to stop that from happening. Beth Graham first meets Simon at the bookstore where she
works. The attraction between the two is instant, and she
finds herself inviting the kitchen-challenged professor
over to her apartment for a home-cooked meal. As things
usually happen when there is sexual chemistry between a man
and a woman, they end up making love - - for four hours. Needless to say, Beth wants to see Simon again, but he is
torn. He needs all his energy to defeat the evil trying to
enter his world. He is also afraid that being around him
will endanger Beth, so he vows to stay away from her until
after the danger hour - - Halloween - - then he can take up
the relationship again. Notwithstanding his efforts, the
entity has found Beth and Simon takes her into protective
custody in his magically protected home. But are his efforts good enough? Is there something going
on with this entity that is not quite what he and his
fellow Guardians have predicted? Well, of course there is -
which is why you have to read this book and find out how
Simon defeats the entity. This is a great read! Don't expect to put it down once
you've started. The characters are fully developed and
people you can root for, even the thorn-in-Beth's-side
Lydia, another Guardian with precognitive skills. If you
like suspense mixed with magic and lots of extremely
