"If you're into vampires, don't miss this one!"
Ash Sampson has no idea why Toria asked to meet with him,
especially in Central Park, but considering how long
they've known each other, he honors the request. Of course,
he still uses caution and watches her for a while before he
goes up to her. What he sees doesn't exactly thrill him
either. For some reason, Toria has a thing for joggers and
she just about drains one dry, before she props him against
a tree and moves on. It turns out Toria wanted to see him
because some vampires have gone missing and even though Ash
refuses to acknowledge the Council, Toria feels he will be
able to help her find them. So Ash promises to do what he
can. On his way back to his car, Ash sees the jogger Toria
left for dead. When the man mentions his wife, Ash takes
pity on him and turns him into a vampire. Now he has a
newly made vampire to take care of as well as help Toria
find the missing vampires. Finally managing to convince the
new vampire—James—that he can't go back to his former life,
Ash agrees to go to James' apartment and get some things
for him. Once in James' apartment, Ash looks around and
notices a picture. He figures it must be the man's wife and
he decides to look closer at it—only to realize the woman
is none other than a reincarnated Delilah—the woman he's
sworn revenge against three thousand years ago. Now that he
realizes he may be able to get his revenge in this
lifetime, Ash goes about arranging a meeting with Ariana—
Delilah's current incarnation. Ariana has known her marriage was on the rocks for quite
some time, so when her husband James moved out, she wasn't
really surprised. Even when he asked for a divorce, she
wasn't really shocked, just saddened. What does surprise
her is that she just can't bring herself to sign the
papers. So when James calls her, she reluctantly agrees to
sign them and will have them to him on Monday. When Monday
comes around, Ariana can't find James anywhere. Now that
she's finally signed the papers, James is missing! So she
fills out a missing persons report. Of course, she doesn't
have the chance to rest because her boss has a new client
who specifically asked for her to handle his money. When
she meets this new client—Ash Sampson—Ariana can't believe
how attracted to him she is. She begins having strange
dreams of being with him in the past. When Ash requests
that Ariana move to London to handle his money, Ariana
reluctantly agrees. She knows it will further her career,
but loves New York. With all of his money, Ash doesn't have a problem with
getting Ariana to handle it. So he makes sure James is
safely ensconced in Council House and goes to his London
home to be with Ariana, where he has a delicious plan for
carrying out his revenge. What is going on with the missing vampires? Will Ash be
able to carry out his revenge against Delilah? What will
become of Ariana? THE FIRST VAMPIRE: A NOVEL OF SAMSON AND DELILAH is a very
different approach to vampires. Alicia Benson weaves
biblical inferences with the supernatural in a very
believable way. Not only does Sampson become the very first
vampire in an unexpected way, but he becomes disgusted with
his progeny and prefers to live with humans and ends up
shunning his own kind. The only thing that's kept him going
all this time has been the thought of revenge against
Delilah. Of course, he doesn't realize Delilah had her own
reasons for doing what she did. And the ending of the story
was totally unexpected. If you're into vampires, don't miss
this one!
