"Nalini SIngh has once again outdone herself!"
Now that the disaster that was Lijuan's ball is over and
Elena has somewhat healed from the experience, she's back
to training. Not only does Elena need to keep up her
hunting skills, she also needs to perfect her flight; and
as a newly made angel, there are certain things she isn't
strong enough to do yet, like vertical takeoffs. However,
not everything is work all the time as the relationship
between Elena and her Archangel continues to grow. Raphael
officially names Elena as his consort, a title Elena
willingly accepts. All is not calm however as natural
disasters begin occurring and young vampires become crazed
with bloodlust. So once again Elena's hunting skills come
into play. Turns out an Archangel may be awakening and
causing all these disturbances. And that Archangel is none
other than Caliane—Raphael's mother. The woman who left
Raphael broken and bleeding in a field before she went to
Sleep. Caliane is one of the Ancients and as such will be
so strong, none of the other Archangels will be able to
destroy her. While Archangels don't have many rules, they
do have one—no one can kill a sleeping Archangel. So now
they will have to find where Caliane is sleeping and
determine if she is insane. Hopefully, they will be able to
determine this prior to Caliane attaining her full
strength. There is only one Archangel who may be able to
destroy Caliane and that is Lijuan, who has evolved into
something else. Will Raphael be able to find where his mother is Sleeping?
Will Elena allow Raphael to go after her alone? What will
happen when they find her? And what does Lijuan have
planned? Will she help Raphael? ARCHANGEL'S CONSORT: GUILD HUNTERS SERIES BOOK 3 seamlessly
picks up where ARCHANGEL'S KISS leaves off and once again
takes us into the world of Archangels and vampires and
hunters. A world Nalini Singh vividly brings to life with
her wonderful gift of weaving words together into a
fantastic story. Certain things come out in this story—
things about mothers, both Elena's and Raphael's. We also
get a glimpse into Raphael's childhood. But the thing I
really loved about this story is how it's character driven.
Oh, there's plenty of action, but we get to watch as Elena
becomes more comfortable in Raphael's world and even
creates her own space in his home. And their relationship
just becomes stronger with the more time they spend
together. I absolutely love this series and the depth of
emotion Nalini Singh brings out in her characters. As
always with Nalini Singh's books, this one already has its
place on my keeper shelf.
