"Great introduction to a new-to-me author"
Chloe Turner became known as the world's biggest Bridezilla
when she (and the rest of the world) learned that her
fiancé faked his death in order to get out of marrying her.
Desperate to escape the media storm, Chloe and her best
friend Jenn escape to a secluded Virginia island for a much-
needed break. Max Sullivan, treasure hunter, is on the same island while
on holidays with his brother Elliott. While Elliott and the
rest of the world believe Max to be a jet-setting, partying
playboy, the truth is that Max has put on a charming,
easygoing façade. Deep down, he wants out of his treasure
hunting life but can't break away because of his compulsion
to keep everyone he knows safe from, well, everything. On the island Max and Chloe have the chance to get to know
each other's true selves. But what will happen when the
real world intrudes? This was a really good book. I thought the contrast between
Media Chloe and Real Chloe and Everyday Max and Real Max
were great ways to show depth to both characters. Despite
their personality differences, both Max and Chloe had one
big thing in common: the rest of the world thought that
they each were someone completely different. I really enjoyed getting to know all of the characters in
this book, including the secondary characters, and I really
felt for Chloe as she endured the media firestorm revolving
around her ex-fiancé's court case. I loved this book, and it was a great introduction to
Victoria Dahl.
