"Second in a new McKettrick Trilogy"
Garrett McKettrick has idolized senator Morgon Cox for
years. Serving as his right hand man, Garrett always
defended and looked up to the older man. But after a very
public and humiliating come out with a stripper, Garrett
loses all faith in the man he once admired. Going back
home to the Silver Spur Ranch to figure out what he wants
to do with his life, the last thing he thought he would see
upon arriving home was pretty Julie Remington. But the
more time he spends with her and her cute son, the more he
finds himself captivated. Staying at the Silver Spur Ranch until their rented cottage
was termite free, Julie Remington and her son Calvin were
thankful for a place to stay. Since her sister was marrying
the weathly Tate McKettrick, she was invited to stay at
their ranch. What she didn't expect was for Tate's brother
Garrett to come home and share their guest cottage. She
knows he has come home a man with burdens and things to
think through. What she sees is a man that is good with her
son, a man that is working his way into her heart. But
romance is the last thing she needs now, especially with
the return of her son's father. I have been reading Ms. Miller's works for years, in fact
one of her earlier works, Moonfire, was my first
introduction of romance. I was hooked on romance ever
since. I have read nearly all of her vast collection of
works and the McKettricks are one of my all time fave
families to read!! With Garrett we are introduced to
a man torn, who had fought family and friends to defend a
man who he thought was a good man. What he does is what
everyone does, they go home to mend and find themselves
again. As you come to know Garrett you cannot help but to
fall for the man. What he needs is a good woman, and Ms.
Miller gives that to us in the form of Julie. When Julie
enters the picture, a single mom doing the best she can,
you feel that her situations are real and will have you
rooting for her. I love her relationship with her sisters,
and the love for her child. Ms. Miller did an excellent
job of making the characters real and relatable. If you
have never picked up a Linda Lael Miller book, Please do
so, you will not be disappointed! You can read the McKettricks as a single read or if you
like to read them in order, it goes as follows: High Country Bride, Shotgun Bride, Secondhand Bride,
McKettricks's Choice, Sierra's Homecoming, McKettrick's
Luck, McKettrick's Pride, McKettrick's Heart, The
McKettrick's Way, A McKettrick's Christmas, McKettrick's of
Texas-Tate, McKettrick's of Texas- Garrett, McKettrick's of
Texas- Austin

Fast track up the political ladder, fast cars, fast women—that’s Garrett McKettrick. Make that was. A scandal has brought him home to Blue River, a place where a man can slow down, take stock and plan his next move. Which doesn’t include staying at the family ranch with his brothers. A city boy for a long time now, Garrett doesn’t think he has the land in his blood anymore. But Blue River has other attractions, like his former high school nemesis, Julie Remington. Now a striking woman and much-respected teacher, Julie comes complete with a precocious four-year-old cowboy, a three-legged beagle and deep ties to the community. Good thing they have nothing in common—except their undeniable attraction and a future brighter than the Texas sun.
