"Fun, light-hearted fantasy read!"
Astiria Petrey was given a vacation by her sister—her
married sister—to an island resort, Fantasy Quest. She has
to admit, it is beautiful here. The only drawback so far is
the fact she can't just sit on the beach and read. Tired of
being approached by men, she's glad when one of the hotel
employees suggests she go inside and play an online
computer game. Of course, the storm blowing in might have
something to do with Astiria getting off the beach. When
she asks about how the storm will affect the computer,
she's told not to worry about it. Not long after she gets
to her room, she hears a knock on the door. It's room
service delivering just the meal she wanted. A little
freaked out now by how the hotel always provides just she
wants, she still enjoys the meal. After she's done, she
decides to try out the game, so she sets Max—her stuffed
gargoyle—on her lap and gets comfortable in a chair. She
picks out her character—a gorgeous redhead with "stripper
boobs" but when she gets to creating a man, Astiria is a
bit stunned by some of the personal questions. Gamely, she
answers them and sees the man of her dreams whose name is
Lerik. Then wham she's in the game itself! And her little
stuffed gargoyle isn't stuffed anymore, but alive and
breathing. Totally freaked out now, she finds herself being attacked
by a group of goblins. Just as she's taking out the last of
them, who should show up but the warrior she created. Once
they get back to his keep, Astiria finds out he sent Max to
Earth to find her and bring her back to Verrath—where she
is now. Turns out that Fantasy Quest has a portal to the
other world. Is this all a game Astiria is stuck in? Is Verrath real?
Will Astiria win the man of her dreams? And will he want
her for herself and not just for the body she has now? FANTASY QUEST is a fun, entertaining fantasy story. Tina
Gerow pulled me into the story with the very first page and
kept me reading to find out how it ended. We follow Astiria
in learning who she really is and becoming comfortable with
herself. This story is exactly what it purports to be—a
quick, engaging story that's a pleasure to read. I highly
recommend this to all lovers of fantasies—and gargoyles!
