The third installment of the Doomsday Brethren series
features Ice, a warrior of the brethren. He is involved in
a battle against the scariest wizard in recent history,
Mathias. When Ice first saw Sabelle, the sister of one of
his fellow brethren, he is immediately smitten. When the
brethren's headquarters is attacked, Ice is charged with
protecting Sabelle and the Doomsday Diary, which Mathias
wants desperately. As they are running for their lives,
Ice realizes that Sabelle is his mate, but he does not
think he deserves her. Sabelle is drawn to Ice from the first moment she saw him.
Told to stay away from the warrior, she cannot help but be
intrigued by him. When she escapes with him, she finds
that she is obsessed with and desperately wants the cold,
handsome warrior. Wow! This series gets better and better with each
installment. The arching storyline between books is
intense, dramatic, and incredibly intriguing. Mathias is
detestable. His corruption of the magical community is
believable, making him the ideal, diabolical antagonist. Since his past is so devastating, Ice became the cold,
insane person most of the other characters see.
Fortunately, Sabelle can see through his coldness, only
wanting to warm him. Their story is incredibly
heartwarming and sexy. I cheered and I cried. Honestly,
I sobbed through more than a couple pages. Very rarely do
I feel such a connection with the characters that a book
elicits such an emotional response from me. Possess Me at Midnight is absolutely perfect. The
storyline continues to build until the finish, causing me
to lose sleep because I could not stop reading. Also, the
story is incredibly well written such that I felt an
intense emotional connection to the characters. This is
the best book in the series thus far and left me only
wanting more. Pronto!
