"Very dark story with an unexpected demonic ending!"
From out of the darkness, he heard a call. One call out of
the millions. This one is so plaintive, so sorrowful, he
can't ignore it. So he searches for the caller, far away,
until finally, he finds her. Lauren Fowler spent her forty-fourth birthday alone—as
always. No one wished her a happy birthday, or gave her a
card. Even her mother didn't acknowledge her birthday.
Unfortunately for her, Lauren is a spinster and lives
alone. She has no close friends or even acquaintances, even
her neighbors don't acknowledge her. Her co-workers tease
her unmercifully and say mean things about her. One day,
just after being called on the carpet by the manager of the
bookstore she works at, a handsome man approaches Lauren
and requests her help in finding a specific list of books.
Even though the other women in the store offer to help him,
he turns them down stating he wants Lauren to help him.
Lauren has never received any kind of positive attention
from a man and instantly falls for him. The man—Syntian
Cree—begins to pursue Lauren, not an easy task by any
means. All of a sudden, the women who have been mean to
Lauren are attacked—in a most brutal fashion—not that
Lauren worries about such a thing happening to her. When
Lauren notices people actually being nice to her, she
wonders what is going on. And then there's the mysterious
rich beautiful widow, Angeline Hellstrom, the woman Syntian
seems to have some sort of a relationship with. Is there a chance of a relationship between Syntian and
Lauren? What of the mysterious Mrs. Hellstrom? What is
going on between her and Syntian? Who is attacking all the
women? NIGHTWIND is a dark story of witchcraft and demons. Once
again, Charlotte Boyett-Compo proves her amazing talent
with this look into the dark side of human nature. We have
Lauren, a middle-aged spinster living an exceeding lonely
life and watch as she finally comes into her own. Then we
have Syntian Cree, an unbelievably handsome man who isn't
what he appears to be. In addition to that, there's also
Angeline Hellstrom, an very rich, attractive widow who has
secrets of her own and hates to lose—anything. The ending
what definitely unexpected. As with all of Charlotte Boyett-
Compo's stories, I highly recommend this one as well.

Syntian Cree, an ancient demon brought up from the muck of the Abyss to serve the Ones who call him. A lonely woman's tears. Her desperation
brings him forth, and it will be to her and her kin-for generations to come-to whom he will be bound by a blood oath neither can ever break. Were
he allowed free reign he would grow harder and harder to control. He MUST be attached to a witch who will hold his reins tightly to keep him in hand.
The Book of Shadows has an incantation from which to summon him. Rating: Sensual-not a traditional romance, graphic violence, adult situations
