"There is No Escaping Your Destiny"
Captured and injured with his best friend dead beside him,
Gaven's life is about to take an unexpected turn. His
captors tell him that he is the son of a great Masarian
Warrior, despite the fact that he has been raised by the
enemies of the Masarians. To further compound his horror
and confusion, Gaven is told that he has been given to Vlad
for training in both combat and the ways of love between
men. Disgusted and frightened, Gaven does whatever he can to try
and escape the fate assigned to him. Will Gaven find a way
to flee back to the land where he was raised or will he be
forced to endure a life unlike what he has imagined or
desired? I really enjoyed Owens' warriors. They are strong,
masculine and practical. There was a tremendous amount of
story in this relatively short book. I would have enjoyed
another 50 or so pages to describe more about Vlad's
character. He is incredibly fascinating. All in all, I enjoyed the world that Owens created. Of all
the characters, Gaven is probably my least favorite but the
powerful Vlad as well as many of the other characters are
so lovable that I forgave Gaven's shortcomings. I really hope that there is a continuation of this story as
I would love to know how things turn out for Gaven. Owens
really gets the male/male dynamic in a way that is sexy and
masculine. Overall, this is a quick and exciting read that
leaves you wanting more.
