"Magic Strikes, Maims and Lusts"
Kate Daniels was determined to kill her father, Roland.
She has been trying for quite awhile now but never seems to
get close enough to pull it off. In this third part of
the "Magic" series, Kate and her friends are trying to find
the Reapers (sort of an ECW on testerone) team who fight in
the Midnight Games. They did serious damage to Kate's
friend Derek and they have to pay. Curran, the Beast Lord who lusts after Kate - and she lusts
back but just won't admit it - heads up the group. Dali,
the spellcaster and others round it out. Their plan - to
outsmart all the teams and meet the Reapers in the Finals.
Minor issue: first they must make it to the Finals. Ilona Andrews' characters seemed to just leap right off the
page and become part of my living room! The fight scenes
were very well done and the byplay between Curran and Kate
was making me snicker between thinking "ouch!" every time
someone got hurt. Gotts go - have to go buy the other two
and see what I missed!
