"Sizzling magical sexual tension"
This second installment of the Doomsday Brethren begins
soon after the events of the first book. Caden hates
magic. Unfortunately, he was born into a family of magic
users. For years, he has ignored his family, moved away,
and lived a normal life. But, when his elder brother
becomes sick, he returns to England and is drawn into the
war brewing within the magical community. Sydney is a reporter for a tabloid. She wrote a story
about recent magic attacks, but most readers assume the
story was fictional, except for those in the magical
community. To learn the names of her informants and keep
the story from spreading, Caden is assigned to watch
Sydney. Caden and Sydney have an instant bond, but both are afraid
of the consequences of their attraction. Can they survive
the coming war and overcome their emotional fears? I really enjoyed this book. The pacing was well done and
balanced between the sizzling love affair between Caden and
Sydney with the dramatic elements of the war. The two
aspects of the story are tied together, keeping interest
and building intensity during the course of the story. I
was drawn to Caden's character because he is incredibly
broken by the events of his past. His relationship with
Sydney could save him or break him further. Plus, the
sexual tension is incredibly intense. Seduce Me in Shadow hints at the next book,
teasing the reader into wanting more. I cannot wait!
