Edmund Fitz Clare is an elder upyr -- or vampire. He has been kidnapped by rogue upyr's who intend to use Edmund to find out the secret of how to "turn" a human and, ultimately, create their own immortal army. Estelle, his human lover, is able to dreamwalk and ultimately discovers where Edmund is being held captive and family sets out to save him.

Breaking Midnight is an enthralling story that has it all -- sensational subplots, red-hot sex scenes, mystery, and non-stop action. And although the overall story arc is about Edmund and Estelle, the subplots involving Edward's "children" run throughout the book, as well.

This is the second book in the Fitz Clare Chronicles and although it can be read alone, I recommend readers begin with the first story, Kissing Midnight to get the most enjoyment out of the series. Breaking Midnight is an enthralling read that will keep readers hooked from beginning to end.
