"Lusty curses and sexy demons"
Petra is cursed. Her touch causes others to become
overcome with lust; therefore Petra lived a very lonely
life. One day, Petra received a letter stating her unknown
father died and left her a home that she shared with two
sisters she never met. When she arrived at her new home,
she decided to take a walk in the overgrown garden,
stumbling upon a statue of a handsome, naked man. When she
touched the statue intimately, the stone man became flesh. After Petra awakened him, Octavian and Petra had crossed
into another realm where she was in danger. To protect
her, they travel to the Underworld, but Octavian
unknowingly placed her in Hades attentions. Octavian
needed to get Petra to safety, but Petra wanted to stay
with Octavian, as he is the only person who is immune from
her curse. Until halfway though the story, I could not figure out the
plot. I was overwhelmed with too much information and not
enough direction. Eventually, I concluded what the story
was about, but needless to say, I was frustrated. I did like how the story pushed the boundaries of all
characters. The intensely erotic scenes are written well
and integral to the plot, increasing the reader's
understanding of the characters and adding to the
storyline. As part of the Captive Souls trilogy, Stone's
Embrace is most likely better when read with the other
two installments, both recently released, than when read as
a stand alone story.
