Magnus, the head priest of Sanctuary, sends for Daenaira to
be his Handmaiden. A Handmaiden is considered to be a
priest's other-half, and Magnus has been having visions
about Daenaira being his chosen Handmaiden. Unfortunately,
after the betrayal and death of his former Handmaiden, whom
he saw in more of a sisterly than wifely role, Magnus has
trouble trusting another woman. Daenaira, who has been
kept as a slave by her aunt and uncle and abused badly,
also has trust issues. To add to the turmoil in Magnus and
Daenaira's lives there are enemies within Sanctuary and in
the ruling bodies of the Shadowdwellers. RAPTURE is an enchanting, paranormal romance with amazing
characters, spectacular world-building, and hot love
scenes. I became involved with the characters from the
Shadowdweller world in the first book, ECSTASY, and Ms.
Frank, like a virtuoso, keeps the tension at a high point.
I really grew to care about the characters and with each
book my anticipation is heightened. Magnus feels that he
must be as perfect as possible and the responsibility for
Sanctuary weighs heavily on him. This makes him seem
remote and unapproachable. Daenaira is just the person who
he needs to shake up his world and be his true partner. He
just needs to let her in. To me, Daenaira is one of the
most admirable heroines that I have read lately. Because
she has survived the abuse of her aunt and uncle and come
out stronger, Daenaira is a true warrior, mentally and
physically. All in all, RAPTURE makes a great addition to the
Shadowdweller series, and I am greatly looking forward to
the next book in the series.
