"Wonderfully tender story of love and passion!"
Plain Jane Miriam Quillan is working when he enters her
office. Now that everything has been cleared through the
proper channels, the man of her dreams is claiming her as
his own. The wait is finally over and Miriam will soon be
the wife of the Emperor of Aduaidh Prime—Ryden Bakari—the
man everyone calls the Burgon. Of course, Miriam can't
believe this too-handsome-to-believe man will finally
become hers. Now married, Ryden and Miriam enjoy an idyllic honeymoon on
a tropical island. And the passion definitely flares
between the two of them. Not that everything is smooth
sailing. There is the small matter of the tattoo Miriam
wants and Ryden refuses to allow. Of course, they still
have to go through the public ceremony of their marriage,
Miriam's installation as Empress of Aduaidh Prime and the
formal naming of Ryden's successor. But this is not what is
tearing Ryden apart. Instead, it's the pain he knows Miriam
will endure when she becomes a Lady-Reaper. As it is, he's
ready to renege on his promise to Miriam that she can
become a Lady-Reaper. Is there trouble in Paradise for Miriam and Ryden? Will
Ryden allow his wife to become a Lady-Reaper? Will Miriam
allow Ryden to renege on his promise? Does Miriam get the
tattoo? EMPEROR OF THE WIND is a very touching story of true love
and passion. Charlotte Boyett-Compo once again brings her
Reapers to life in this very intriguing story. Unlike most
of Charlotte Boyett-Compo's stories, there is no torture or
beatings in this one. Instead, we have the very real love
and passion shared by Ryden and Miriam. Miriam is a very
headstrong woman and doesn't plan on backing down from what
she wants. Ryden is a very typical Alpha male and has no
intentions of allowing Miriam to be hurt in any way. So we
have Ryden being forced to accept that he cannot keep
Miriam free of all pain. While different from most of her
stories, this one is a very tender love story. As with all
of Charlotte Boyett-Compo's stories, I highly recommend
this one.
