"Nalini Singh does it again!"
Right now, DarkRiver sentinel Mercy needs to escape the
mating ceremony for her best friend Dorian and his mate.
See, Mercy has an itch that needs scratching. The problem
is, there's no one in her pack Mercy wants to scratch that
particular itch. Being such a dominant female, Mercy knows
finding a mate will be darn near impossible for her. She'd
eat a submissive male alive and even the dominant males in
her pack would have trouble handling her. Even with
Tamsyn's—the pack's healer—assurances, Mercy is pretty sure
she will never find a mate. So when she runs into Riley—
SnowDancer lieutenant and very dominant male—Mercy decides
he'll do. After all, ever since the alliance between the
cat and wolf packs, the two of them have been working
together a lot and dancing around each other the entire
time. Hopefully, once the itch has been scratched, Mercy
will be able to settle down enough to concentrate on her
duties. Riley Kincaid is second-in-command of the SnowDancer wolf
pack. Still, he's fighting his own demons. Ever since the
death of his parents, Riley has raised his younger brother
and sister, so he's always had a well developed sense of
responsibility. However, when his sister Brenna was
kidnapped and tortured by a Psy, Riley became wracked with
guilt. After all, he was responsible for Brenna when she
was taken and even though she's back and mated now, Riley
still feels responsible. After Riley manages to scratch
Mercy's itch, he knows once is not enough and he will
continue to pursue her. When a lynx changeling is kidnapped from his home in
DarkRiver territory, both Mercy and Riley are on the case.
Turns out the boy was working on a special research
project. When Mercy and Riley find evidence the Human
Alliance was behind the kidnapping, things get very
interesting. Why would the Human Alliance kidnap a
Changeling? The kidnapping was carried out with military
precision, including the heavy spraying of perfume to
confuse the extremely sensitive noses of the Changelings.
Of course, with Mercy and Riley working so closely together
on finding the boy, things heat up between them as well. Is there a chance of a mating bond between leopard and
wolf? Will Riley be able to allow Mercy to be who she is
and not try to protect her? Will Mercy and her family
accept a wolf as her mate? And what is the Human Alliance
up to? Why did they kidnap this particular boy? Is it
because of the research he's doing, or is there something
even more sinister going on? BRANDED BY FIRE PSY-CHANGELINGS BOOK 6 is an excellent
story. Once more, Nalini Singh proves why she is an auto-
buy author for me and once this book comes out, I will get
a copy and put it in it's already reserved space on my
keeper shelf. Not only is there more than enough action
and subplots to keep anyone reading way beyond their
bedtime, but the relationship between Mercy and Riley is
extremely tender as we watch Riley being forced to confront
the demons from his sister's abduction. Not to mention,
watching Mercy and Riley being forced to accept the other
as they are—both dominant, strong people. And the added
bonus, we get to keep up with the rest of the Changelings
and the Psy. I'd really like to find out who the Ghost is
though. And the ending took me by surprise. All I can say
is WOW! This series is just like potato chips—you can't
stop at one! I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Hailed by Christine Feehan as “a major new talent,” New York Times bestselling author Nalini Singh now brings together two fierce changelings in her most explosive story yet. Though DarkRiver sentinel Mercy is feeling the pressure to mate, she savagely resists when Riley Kincaid, a lieutenant from the SnowDancer pack, tries to possess her. The problem is not simply that he pushes her buttons; the problem is that he’s a wolf, she’s a cat, and they’re both used to being on top. But when a brilliant changeling researcher is kidnapped from DarkRiver territory, Mercy and Riley must work together to track the young man—before his shadowy captors decide he’s no longer useful. Along the way, the two dominants may find that submitting to one another uncovers not just a deadly conspiracy, but a passion so raw that it’ll leave them both branded by fire… Genre: Paranormal Romance, Shapeshifters, Psychics Psy/Changeling reading order per author's website:
