"I can't put this book down"
Meli Galdes possesses a powerful skill and is trained to
use that skill to kill anyone who went up against the
Galdes family. For twelve years, she serves them as a
secret assassin to ensure that the family survives the
cutthroat competition. Now, her father makes another
request of her--to kill the man who was destroying the
Galdes business, the same man who had hurt her ages ago. Celino Carvanna is a cold, ruthless businessman, but one
look at Meli and he was enraptured. He couldn't forget this
mysterious woman who has captured all his senses, and he
couldn't stay away from her. Which is just what Meli has planned. I've heard of Ilona Andrews and how others had raved about
her books. I can now understand what they're talking about,
because I became part of the fan club after reading
Silent Blade. This is the first story of Ms. Andrews
that I've read and it won't be the last. Ms. Andrews writes tight, compact sentences that threw a
punch. No word was wasted, yet the words that were written
evoked a whole host of emotions. I am not ashamed to say
that I had tears in my eyes when I read the last ten pages. Meli is a strong, capable woman who has overcome a lot of
difficulties, and I can't help but root for her at the
woman she's become. I also feel for her when her past is
revealed, and I can't help but feel for Celino when he
finally realized certain things toward the end. His
declaration of love for Meli is one of the most romantic
(yet realistic) I've ever read, and I know I'll visit this
book again and again just to read that passage.
