"Wonderful tale of love and redemption!"
Thiessen, now prince of Emardia, son of now King Sierran
and Queen Celeste (our hero and heroine from THE
WYNDMASTER'S LADY) has just heard of the imprisonment of
his half-brother Morgan. Even though he's never gotten
along with Morgan, Thiessen knows it is his duty to rescue
his brother. Morgan was born of the forced consummation of
his father and Lady Summerall. Even though Morgan can never
inherit the throne, Celeste did try to make Morgan a part
of the family. So before his father can hear about it,
Thiessen decides to rescue Morgan. Off he goes to Solaria
to the keep of Princess Lanelle, where Thiessen and his men
have no problems at all getting inside. It's once they get
inside that the trouble starts. Thiessen now realizes he
walked into a trap when they find the place full of armed
warriors all ready for a fight. Just when Thiessen has his
blade at a woman's throat, Morgan captures him. His men
have already succumbed to the greater numbers. It is at
this point that Thiessen discovers what Morgan has planned.
In order to keep Lanelle from marrying the man her father
has chosen, Morgan has decided she should marry Thiessen
instead. Once the marriage has been consummated, Morgan can
go back to his home and Lanelle will be able to go to the
keep her father gave her. After the forced marriage, with Thiessen bound and gagged,
he is taken to a bedchamber, stripped and tied to the bed.
Then Lanelle forces the consummation, after which she
leaves him. Once the consummation has taken place, Thiessen
is dressed, bound and he and his men are escorted from the
keep. No way is Thiessen going to stand for this. So that
night, when his men are all sleeping, Thiessen goes back to
Lanelle's keep and captures her. Of course, it has to be
raining, which normally wouldn't be a problem, but
rappelling down the keep's walls in the rain with Lanelle's
weight takes its toll on Thiessen's hands. Not
surprisingly, Thiessen doesn't see Morgan watching him. And
so back they go to Thiessen's home. The longer the two of them are together, the more they
begin to realize they get along quite well together. The
two of them decide to remain married and live together.
Just when things are going well, the king and queen show up. Will the king and queen approve of Thiessen's marriage?
Will they allow it, or annul it? Exactly what was Morgan's
plan in getting the two of them together? Will Thiessen and
Lanelle be allowed to live in peace, or will someone from
the past threaten their happiness? THE WYNDMASTER'S SON is a rollicking adventure. Charlotte
Boyett-Compo comes through again with a wonderful story of
just how cruelly one man—or woman—can act toward another,
but also of a love meant to be. And I have to say, I
absolutely adored Kyllian Reddick and his part in this
tale. And the fact we also get to learn what happens to
Sierran and Celeste is just an added bonus. I highly
recommend both of the WYNDMASTER stories.
