"Some days it doesn't pay to purr."
Kita is a regal shape shifter from an affluent clan. She
left the clan and escaped into the human world where she's
lived in obscurity off the kindness of strangers. When
hunters began searching for her she tries to hide, but
finds herself in a deadly situation. She's saved by a
vampire named Nathanial, who turns her into one of his own
kind to keep her from dying. To make her day worse, she's sentenced to death by a
councilman, led around by Gil who wants to study her,
Nathanial who she doesn't trust, and Bobby who wants to
take her home. She has just days to find the creature
responsible for human deaths that she may, or may not, have
inadvertently created. What an intriguing tale. Kalayna Price introduced a myriad
of characters without leaving the reader overwhelmed or
confused. I couldn't put the tale down once I started
reading it. A shape shifter that turns into a five pound
tabby cat just amused me to no end. I loved the scenes Kita
experienced as a cat as well as her human self. The twist
with the vampire council only made me want to know more. I
look forward to future tales from Ms. Price. For every bit of danger there is a balance of humor. Kita
is a character that will go on living in the memory of the
readers. She's not your every day house cat! This was just
a perfect adventure to escape the confines of reality for a
little while.
