The Awakening is the second book in the Forbidden
series. Book one left off soon after Ren and Violet have
mated, which left me just dying to read this book. That is
probably the reason that I read it the very next day, and
it was just as good as the first book, so I read it all in
one sitting. Ren has struggled with the demons from his past all of his
nearly four hundred years. Those demons were created from
his father's mistakes and from what he was taught to
believe. When Ren meets and mates with Violet, he broke
his first and most important rule, and he struggles with it
just as much as he enjoys it. He has also made huge
changes to his life, because of the mating. Now that he
has made those changes, he can't imagine what his future
will be, because he has lived all of his life for one
purpose; his Clan and becoming a Dominie. Lucky for him, he
mated with a strong woman, unafraid of him and more
supportive than a lot of women can be. Violet, and his
love for her, teaches Ren more than he has ever learned of
himself and his past. When he finally has that
breakthrough that I had so been hoping for, it was such an
utter relief for me, because I know that these two are
going to be just fine. The Awakening has less humor than the first book,
but just as much emotion and passion and a little more
action. I enjoyed this book just as much and am so glad
that Ren and Violet are moving on as they are. I look
forward to reading the next book in this series.
