"Yippie Ky-A"
Too dangerous for regular prisons, criminals found
possessing the Cleaven Gene (the gene that allows for
paranormal abilities) are locked away onto large prison
ships that coast up and down the wide dark river. As a
reformed prisoner, Amber doesn't trust herself back on land
so she has opted to remain on ship, using her ability to
feel other people's emotions in her job as prison
counselor. Until the nightmare from her past gets himself
on board. CRASH INTO DARKNESS is a thoroughly unique story featuring
two tortured people who barely trust themselves, yet are
forced to rely completely on each other in order to
survive. Nor are they given time for a gradual decision to
trust because there is no possibility to hide darkest
doubts, fears, and attractions from each other since Amber
and Jaden (sexy name for a dynamic character) both carry
the Cleaven Gene, one reads thoughts and the other reads
emotions. It's a real treat to get up close and personal
within the raw and exposed tangle of their emotions that
comes at them as fast-paced as the surrounding storyline. Strong and gripping, this has all the action of a Bruce
Willis Die-hard movie where the hero and heroine sneak
around the ship in a life or death game of hide and seek,
while they try to sabotage the bad guy's plan without
getting themselves killed. Throw in a little paranormal
elements with Cleaven Gene abilities running rampant and
pass me the popcorn (buttered please) because CRASH INTO
DARKNESS has enough thrills and OOOhs to read like I'm
watching it on the big screen.
