"Nalini Singh's new series--in a word, excellent!!!"
Elena Deveraux is not just any vampire hunter, she's one of
the best. In Elena's world, archangels rule the world and
just let humans think they do. Home to Elena is New York,
in archangel Raphael's territory. The archangels and angels
make vampires, who are then contracted to serve their
maker. However, once they have immortality, not all
vampires wish to serve their makers, which is where the
Hunters Guild comes into play. The vampire hunters receive
their "assignments" from angels and it is their duty to
capture the vampires and deliver them to a specified
location. Elena has been hunting this particular vampire
for a while now and when she finally captures and delivers
him, she's ready for some downtime. Unfortunately, that's
not going to happen. Instead, she's got another assignment,
and even more unfortunate, it's for the archangel of New
York himself, Raphael. The Guild Director and Elena's best
friend, Sara had no choice but to accept the assignment but
promises to do whatever she can to help. Because Elena
knows this assignment can have only one outcome—her death.
In the grand scheme of things, humans are unimportant to
archangels and Elena knows—as does Sara—when the assignment
is completed and her usefulness is over, so will her life
be. Before the meeting, Elena dresses carefully and takes some
weapons with her. No shock there, Elena never goes anywhere
without a weapon or two. When she gets to Archangel Tower,
she's taken up to the roof, where a table is set for two.
When Elena finally sees Raphael, she is in shock for he is
her vision of drop-dead gorgeous man personified. He's a
warrior, exactly what Elena desires. His wings are pure
white edged in gold. The sparks between them would provide
enough power to light up the whole city, but Elena refuses
to give in to it. She knows, to an archangel, humans are
mere toys. Turns out, Raphael needs Elena's help in
tracking down an archangel. Since he won't give her any
more details than absolutely necessary, she's going into
this assignment blind. Even though she's hunter born, she
can't track an archangel, not that she's ever tried. See,
Elena has a very special sense of smell—she can track
vampires by their scent. So how is she supposed to track
someone who can fly, even if she could smell him? Why does the archangel of New York need a human hunter's
skills? Why is an archangel being hunted? What will happen
if they do catch him? Will Elena eventually give in to
Raphael and become his toy? What will happen when the
assignment ends? The only thing I can say about ANGEL'S BLOOD: GUILD HUNTER
SERIES BOOK 1 is wow! Nalini Singh has another hit series
on her hands with this one. As with all of Nalini Singh's
books, the world building is top-notch and we're plunged
into non-stop action from the very first page. The
characters, including the secondary, are all very well
fleshed out, from the good to the truly evil. Love Ransom.
We have two very different, wounded in their own way,
characters and get to watch as they come together. I
absolutely love this story and can't wait to see where
Nalini Singh takes the series from here! Have to say, she's
going to have a very tough time topping this one.

**A PNR Staff Top Pick** Nalini Singh introduces readers to a world of beauty and bloodlust, where angels hold sway over vampires. Vampire hunter Elena Deveraux knows she's the best—but she doesn't know if she's good enough for this job. Hired by the dangerously beautiful Archangel Raphael, a being so lethal that no mortal wants his attention, only one thing is clear—failure is not an option...even if the task is impossible. Because this time, it's not a wayward vamp she has to track. It's an archangel gone bad. The job will put Elena in the midst of a killing spree like no other…and pull her to the razor's edge of passion. Even if the hunt doesn't destroy her, succumbing to Raphael's seductive touch just may. For when archangels play, mortals break… Genre: Paranormal Romance, Fantasy, Contemporary, Vampires, Angels, Shapeshifters Guild Hunter reading order per author's website:
