"...touched on one of my hot buttons as a reader"

In the late 800s Ravin Barrilyl was cursed for falling in love with the daughter of a wizard. Over the years he has amassed a great fortune and become a well known collector of Scottish folklore antiquities but he remains trapped as part man, part beast. Now the ancient sword he needs to end his torment is within his reach but standing between him and the sword is one suspicious folklore librarian and an ancient enemy who will stop at nothing to prevent Ravin from gaining his freedom.

Taming The Beast was a real challenge for me, in fact I almost didn't finish it and actually put it aside for quite some time. In the end it was a good story but I found I couldn't enjoy in the way I might have because it touched on one of my hot buttons as a reader. The Scottish accent. I found the hero's Scottish accent continually irritated me and pulled me out of the story and I wasn't able to put that aside. I'm Scottish and to me the hero's accent was full of stereotypes and the slang swung from Scottish to Irish to something I can't identify and grated against me like fingernails on a chalk board. However at its heart Taming The Beast is an enjoyable tale with a tortured hero and you have to love a tortured hero... as long as he doesn't open his mouth.

Cursed for the crime of loving the wrong woman

Forced to subsist as part man, part beast, Scottish Millionaire Ravin Barrilyl has waited centuries for his date with destiny. The mystical sword needed to end his torment is finally within reach, but he must acquire it before an age-old enemy can interfere.

Ravin's fate rests in the hands of folklore librarian Jacquelyn Frasier. This very smart, very beautiful opponent is highly suspicious of his interest in the Celtic artifacts passed down by her ancestors. And the electric attraction crackling between them could prove more destructive than fate and Ravin's enemy combinedů
