"Can Love Overcome Destiny?"
Serena comes from a long line of women with rather
challenging magical gifts. She is so sensitive that her
flesh bruises with the slightest touch, or burns in even
mild sunlight. She also has visions of the future, but
these visions always portent two separate paths toward
death. Drogan doesn't believe in things supernatural, but upon
learning of Serena's gifts, he doesn't shy from them
either. Or her. When Serena comes to Drogan for aid,
confiding that she has seen the deaths of his dearest
friend and his family, and also the way to avoid their
deaths, Drogan doesn't hesitate to help her. However, Serena left out the tiny detail that saving their
futures will take away her own. And Drogan has secrets of
his own. He is stalked by a horrific sin from his past that
is coming for them all. Shadow Magic is the first book in a trilogy
featuring unique magical women. The story plays with the
interesting concepts of divergent paths of destiny,
irreparable sins, sacrifice and redemption, around the
lives of two people who set their own longings and desires
behind hopelessness and guilt. Drogan and Serena are
definitely a couple you want everything to work out for and
the author skillfully pulls in enough bleak obstacles that
the happily ever after truly seems daunting, which, of
course, makes the ending all the more satisfying.
