"Very enjoyable read"
Ranger Cooper Holt is a loner. So when he takes an
assignment to find who is hunting and killing the
endangered white wolves and finds he is working with a
partner, he isn't happy. Then he finds out his partner is a
dog. Well part dog and part wolf, Tas. Having worked with
her for a while he worries what will happen when this
assignement is over. Working during Christmas, he makes a
wish to Santa but knows it is one that will be hard to
deliver. Tas is a Werewolf. Though for this assignment she has to
stay in her wolf/dog form to help her partner Cooper
capture the ones killing off the white wolves. But then
Cooper has an accident and the only way to save him is to
transform into her human form. Maybe they both will get
their Christmas wish this year. But what happens
afterwards? Will Cooper be able to handle Tas as human and
wolf? B.J. McCall's short story Canine Cop draws the
reader into Cooper and Tas' lives as they struggle with
their assignment as well as their feelings for each other.
Very enjoyable read. McCall also brings to light the real
danger that endangered wolves and other animals deal with
and those that do their job to save them.
