"An extremely intriguing introduction to the Children of the Sea series"

In the beginning the creator made the elementals, children of the sea, air, earth, and fire. These beings were immortal with no need for souls. Then he breathed life into clay and created mankind, who though they were short lived, were given souls. Some like the fire demons had resented the creator's gift to these obviously inferior beings and had aligned themselves with the powers of Hell seeking to destroy them. The children of the sea, like seven hundred year old selkie female Margred had taken a neutral stance, seeking out mankind only when the whims of their sexual nature led them to do so. Magred's mate had died years ago but selkies were solitary creatures, so she barely missed him. Sex on the other hand she had sorely missed which is what has brought her to World's End, Maine, a peaceful island fishing town and summer tourist attraction, in search of a suitable human male to work her wiles upon.

Caleb Hunter had not lived an easy life. His mother had abandoned the family when he'd been ten taking his older brother Dylan with her, neither to be seen again. The loss had left his father a bitter heartbroken drunk. Dylan had raised his babysister Lucy until he'd left for college. He'd been married briefly before he'd left for Iraq and had returned to a broken marriage of his own and surgery to put back together the remnants of his shattered leg. He'd joined the police force in Portland, Maine but had eventually returned home to World's end where he was the Police Chief responsible for the welfare of this uneventful community. His life is about to change forever.

Who have thought when he went to check out a bonfire on the beach that Caleb would run into a lost and naked beauty set on seducing him? She's beautiful, she wants him, this is a woman he could fall in love with. She disappears, but returns just when he has given up hope that she would. Unfortunately she has been a victim of a terrible crime. Bloody and beaten she claims to remember little about the attack or even herself. Oddly no one else can remember seeing her before. Caleb is her only connection in World's End. Because of this he is a person of interest in the crime in spite of Margred's insistence that he is not that kind of man. The story she has told him is too wild for him to report to the authorities himself.

A fire demon has taken possession of one of the locals. Known as Tan the demon has tired of the water children's tolerance of mankind. He'd hoped that his attack on Margred would be reported back as proof of man's aggressive nature. He'd failed to kill her but he'd burned her pelt making her unable to return to the sea. On land she would age and eventually die and without her pelt she would not be reborn into the sea. Her existence would end permanently. Caleb wanted her trust but she could not give it, not until he could believe in her as well. Love blooms, but another woman's murder ties in to Margred's case and soon Caleb must accept the unbelievable.

My first every paranormal read was a selkie romance so I expected to love this story from the start and I did. Having said this, the tale was so much more than a simple shifter romance. A battle for the world has begun as elementals line up for and against mankind. I don't think I'd be spoiling the story to reveal that Caleb's long lost brother reappears in this tale since this romantic trilogy features all three of the Hunter siblings. SEA WITCH should satisfy a wide audience as it has romance with a happily ever after, and a fantasy plot which will extend through the entire series. The characters are complex and wholly believable. Dylan's story is next, he claims to be pure selkie with no ties and no regrets, still when push comes to shove he is there for both his human brother Caleb and his unlikely selkie mate. Magred has made the ultimate sacrifice for love, but what will Dylan do when he meets the woman of his dreams? Stay tuned, SEA FEVER is the next installment. In the meantime I highly recommend SEA WITCH, an extremely intriguing introduction to the Children of the Sea. You won't be able to put it down!

SUMMARY

**A PNR Staff Recommended Read**

One family. Three loves that will change their lives . . . and whose destiny could change the world.
For centuries, the children of the sea have co-existed in uneasy peace with their fellow elementals, the children of fire. Now that balance of power is tested as three siblings born of a human father and a selkie mother become embroiled in an ancient rivalry.

Follow their stories: Caleb, the soldier, who returns from the desert to fall in love with a woman from the sea ; Dylan, the loner, who must choose between the freedom of his mother's kind and the bonds of mortal love; and Lucy, the dreamer, whose heart and fate are tangled with the sea king's son .

Set off the coast of Maine, the Children of the Sea series was inspired by the Celtic legends of the selkie, immortal creatures of the sea living apart from humankind but able to shape-shift into seductive human form.

SEA WITCH: Caleb's story

Her spell cannot be broken...

From the water
For years, Margred has gone without the touch of another. Now, her need has driven her beyond her world to sate her desire. For she is a Selkie-a legendary being of the sea, able to shapeshift into seductive human form. Finally, she has found the one man she wants.

From the land...
A burned out veteran of big city streets, Caleb Hunter was only too happy to take a job as police chief on the peaceful Maine island of World's End. Nothing ever happens in this tiny community bounded by the sea. Until he meets a woman who's everything he's ever dreamed of. And more.

To each other... Their passion is undeniable. Irresistible. But when a murderer begins targeting women in World's End, Caleb must face the terrible possibility that the killings are somehow connected to the mysterious Margred - and that the power of their love may change the fate of human kind...
