"a fast-paced mini-vacation for the mind"
Derek thought to avoid the 'Corwin curse' by breaking up
with
Gabrielle upon high school graduation. Now 14 years later,
he's a
divorced dad and returned to his home town. Gabrielle is
now a
noted author debunking myths and has come to town planning
on
writing a book on the Corwin curse. Will she be able to
prove that
there is nothing true about the curse and that she can have
a
future with Derek? Mayor Mary Perkins is a descendant of the witch who cursed
the
Corwin men and is known for her subtle use of the curse as
a tool
to keep her power and position in town. Gabrielle's best
friend,
Sharon and fiancé Richard are being blackmailed in an
attempt to
remove him from running for mayor. After threats and break-
ins,
Derek feels that the best way to keep Gabrielle safe is for
her to
move in with him while she researches her book and helps her
friend. LUCKY CHARM is utter entertainment -- a fast-paced mini-
vacation
for the mind. The story is more a romantic romp than
paranormal
suspense and Ms. Phillips balances the sense of humor with
funny
scenes and poignancy of emotion in the darker aspects of
the story.
The sex scenes are tastefully adult and though somewhat
predictable, the romantic finale leaves the reader with a
smile. I
recommend this book for the pleasure of reading and romance
lovers.
As this is the first of a trilogy about the Corwin men, I
look
forward to Mike Corwin's story (LUCKY STREAK coming June
2009)
