"a short but somewhat inspiring story"
Samantha is on her way home from meeting with her sister
when she realises that a strange man she saw earlier on is
following her. Betrayed by her ex, she is no longer the
calm and confident woman she used to be and panic sets
in. Her grandmother may have been a witch of sorts but
Sam doesn't have any magic or a phone to save her from
whatever may happen next. After all, it is the second full
moon in one month and Halloween is tomorrow. Duke is a cop and a werewolf. His wife and mate died
almost two years ago and now he is dying without her. If
Duke doesn't find himself a new mate soon then he will have
to put himself out of his misery. When Sam runs into the
bar he is drowning his sorrows in he can smell her fear and
much more. This chance meeting may save him. Emotional blackmail is not what Duke wants to use but it
comes across that way as he tries to win Sam over. It is
all going so fast and Sam feels like Duke is rushing things
but maybe she feels so much for him already. With the
fortune cookies even telling them that their future is
meant to be lived together, they both take a crash course
in falling in love and getting to know each other. Will
Sam decide to be with Duke and save him? Or will he scare
her off? This was a short but somewhat inspiring story. Full with
romance and set in a soft paranormal setting, this would
have made a great full length novel. This was well
written and it is a shame that the story felt so rushed and
that the characters also had to rush their love. It would
have been nice to get to know Sam and Duke better and to
find out what happened next. All in all a brilliant story from an author that shows a
lot of promise. I will be looking out for more stories,
hopefully longer, by this writer in the future.
