"a lovable main character leading the way"
Science Teacher Jo Gartner was almost turned undead five
months ago. Things have been quiet since then and she
hasn't seen any creatures of the night. Jo just wants to
forget the whole thing happened and lead a normal life.
That is until Will, the vampire who bit her starts showing
his fangs around the place and puts a dampener on Jo
forgetting everything that happened. In an attempt to stay normal Jo agrees to volunteer at a
haunted house fund-raiser. Unfortunately her costume turns
out to be a little too close to home for her to feel
comfortable with the whole thing and it seems the vampire
community like hanging out at the house too. So when
someone turns up dead and accidents start to happen Jo is
pulled into the middle of things. Was it a vampire? Was
it a human? Can Will really be as charming as he seems? Not only is the main character in denial of her paranormal
experiences but the story is too. This is a cosy mystery
with just a teasing amount of vampire to keep the
paranormal element alive. However this was still
interesting enough to keep me reading to the end. Nice
main character, a good plot and some humour made this a
nice quick enjoyable read. Every chapter has that little bit of a cliffhanger that
keeps the reader turning to see what happens next and it
has left me wondering what the first book in the series,
Underdead, was like. This series shows promise and I
wouldn't mind seeing where things go, especially with such
a lovable main character leading the way.
