Emily is a psychologist (the Monster Doc), who treats the
Others (supernatural creatures.) She can read the Others'
minds and this is how she helps them. She is asked to work
with the police in solving a case where it is believed an
Other is responsible. Colin is a detective and a shifter. No one knows he is one
of the Others and he'd like to keep it that way. When he
realizes what Emily can do, he fears she'll reveal his
secret. He confronts her, planning to convince her not to
say anything. He didn't expect the immediate attraction to
her. The animal side of him wants to claim her as his,
which confuses his senses. She's human and a lady out of
his league ... or so he thinks. Emily doesn't push him away when by all rights she should
stay clear of him. Shifters are unpredictable, violent,
and possessive. So why can't she keep her hands off him? Ms. Eden's story is intense with the sizzling romance and
the race to find the killer. Colin and Emily both have a
past where they need time to heal and trust and the two are
a perfect match. Emily understands the beast that Colin
keeps reigned in at all times. He can be himself with her
without fear of rejection and she in turn can trust him not
to hurt her. He's all about protecting his mate. I was
immediately drawn into the paranormal world where the
preternatural live among the humans, blending in as much as
possible. I liked how the Others had hang-ups—like a
vampire who can't stand the sight of blood and shifter who
is afraid to shift because of a tragic event in his life. This tale has it all: tantalizing romance, humor, a mystery
to solve and a monster to catch. This is a definite keeper
