"Interesting look into the mind of a megalomanic!"
When we last left Eve and Adam at the end of IN THE
BEGINNING, when it all came down to it, Eve could not bring
herself to destroy Adam, thereby betraying Sullivan. So she
decided to end her own life, however, Adam could not allow
this and did the one thing Eve begged him not to—turned her
into a vampire. To punish Eve for her part in the plot against his life,
Adam has put Eve in a coffin in the catacombs under the
city and has decided to leave her there until she's so weak
she will accept what she has now become. After calling for
him repeatedly, Eve eventually realizes Adam has no
intentions of helping her out of the coffin. In
desperation, Eve calls Sullivan, who immediately helps Eve
out of the coffin and takes her to his home. Even though
she is now a vampire, Eve has no desire to drink blood from
mortals, so Sullivan gives her a transfusion. Of course,
when Adam realizes what has happened and that Sullivan is
with Eve, he immediately pops into Sullivan's home. Adam
loves Eve, but due to the way he was made into a vampire,
he cannot make love to a vampire woman. Every time he tries
to make love to Eve, he finds he cannot go through with it
and Eve can only take so much. In revenge, Eve marries Adam
and lives in his home. However, Eve has her own agenda and
refuses to become a pawn to either Adam or Sullivan. What is Eve up to? How will she manage to survive if she
refuses to drink blood from a mortal? Will her love for
Adam ever die? Will she turn to another vampire since Adam
is unable to make love to her? What will this do to Adam? IN BLOOD WE TRUST is a dark continuation of IN THE
BEGINNING. F.D. Davis once again takes us on a journey into
the mind of a man convinced he is immortal and all
powerful. Even though he has loved Eve for a thousand
years, he just doesn't know how to deal with her. Out of
anger, he continually does the wrong thing and pushes her
into the arms of another man. Eve is a very strong woman
and refuses to do anything against her morals. While she
loves him and always has, she cannot live with him and his
constant rejections. This story also does not have a HEA,
but there is an abiding love at the core of it. The
question is, will this love redeem or destroy Adam? All in
all, an interesting story.
