"first installment of the Realm series"

Rihker Tennai is Justice for the Other World. She has been charged by the Silent Court to help the human police to apprehend Other World offenders and remand them into the custody of the Silent Court. When she is charged with guarding Kieran, the Death Walker, her world turns upside down. Her Ogre, Gimlit, thinks she is the prophesized "Chosen One", and some weird force is bringing out all of the Darkness bad guys for her to deal with. How is a half pixie, half human supposed to deal with all of this? One mess at a time.

I absolutely adored this first installment of the Realm series. This book was hilarious and I love the heroine, who you just want to shake your head at. You can see where she is going to get into trouble, and while you're trying to figure out how you would have avoided it, you can only read gleefully as she tries to extricate herself. I would really like to see this become a long range series and I am absolutely in love with one of the male characters, but I will only confess to the author which one. This book was a lot of fun.

Vampires, Ogres, Goblins and Weres! Talk about your other-worldly genetically dysfunctional family. If I didn't need this blood in my veins, I might just consider giving it to some damn vamp.

Some creatures are born into an existence where the lines of life and death, right and wrong are experienced only in shades of black and white. Existences where life is as easy as a mother's love or a father's warm embrace. They live in relative safety behind their familiar walls with the warmth and comfort of hearth and home on some clean streen in a rural community. Where love is always present. And the violence of crime and man's depravity can't touch them. A place where evil and all the dark creatures that go bump in the night are just fairy tales told on stormy evenings to frighten young children in their dreams.

But have you ever wondered what happens when the lines bleed and the creatures bump back? Ever wondered who is there in the dead of night when the monster in the closet is real and he's come with a hunger? Worried that he knows your name?

My name is Rihker Tennai. In the Other World they call me Justice - and this is my Realm.
