Lucy Fairchild was pissed. In fact, she was past pissed! At the advanced age of 30, and a successful lawyer, her own father had declared he has found her a husband! Someone worthy of marrying his daughter and joining the family! While stomping off for coffee, she is harassed and teased by the construction crew of Jake Dalton. Working construction since he ran away from home at 16, Jake knows better but his mouth always did get him in trouble; and when Lucy literally falls into his arms he asks her out on a dare and she accepts.

Both Jake and Lucy are very disciplined people who have worked their whole lives for what they have and for what one of them don't want. The characters learn a lot about life and themselves while working out many problems between them and their backgrounds.

This was an excellent novel! A well thought out plot, great back stories and several lessons in patience and love.

A romantic game of chicken—and they’re both too stubborn to flinch.

But the heart is a fickle thing, and not above playing dirty. In their quest to prove something—to each other, or maybe to themselves—they find themselves building a case…for love.

And suddenly all the rules have changed.

It does contain sexy romancin’ on a trampoline under the stars, fun one liners, a dog named Rascal and a smokin’ hot construction worker named Jake that the author is convinced you’re going to fall madly in love with.
