"Action, adventure and plenty of chocolate"
The Second Line by Sheryl Nantus is about a corporate thief
named Jackie St. George who is hired to get information
from a candy company called Chocofun. The chocolate treat
the company intends to release is supposed to be one of the
hottest sensations to hit the market and Jackie wants
nothing more than to find out what this new sensation
consists of. Everything was going as planned until she is confronted by
Janus Rosethron, a self proclaimed vampire with a poor
fashion sense. Words are shared between the two. Out of
fear, Jackie pulls her .38 out on Janus. She shoots him in
the thigh but it doesn't even faze him. Janus then uses his
hypnotic powers to make her come to him. When it looks like
Jackie is going to fall into Janus' arms, shots are fired
from a wooden crossbow. The spell is broken by Fletcher
Dillon, a bookstore manager turned vampire hunter. Jackie feels confused; the idea of vampires just seems
crazy. But Fletcher tries to convince Jackie that Janus is
in fact a real vampire by telling her stories about how his
father was viciously murdered at the hands of Janus. The
two soon set off to find out what is behind this mysterious
candy company. What they find is shocking and Janus will
stop at nothing to keep it a secret. The Second Line by Sheryl Nantus is an action packed
adventure filled with mystery and revenge. This story has
all the elements readers dearly love; good characters,
strong story and most of all chocolate...LOL. I really
enjoyed reading this book and look forward to reading more
from Sheryl Nantus.
