"a steamy battle of the sexes"
Starla Midnight thought Gunther Morningsky was a jerk with
a swelled head that needed to be taken down a peg or two.
See, they had raced against each other and she could still
hear him laughing at her when her ship stopped, all she
wanted to do was knock his head off and teach him a lesson.
This year she was all set to teach that big headed jerk a
lesson or two; that she and her ship were better than
anything he had. She wanted to win in the popular race that
all that were anything ran in. So before the race she goes
to sabotage his engine, but of all times Gunther walks in
on her. He takes her back to his home, and tells her she
has two choices, one, she can sleep with him and then he
will let her go. If she won't do that then he will keep her
until the race, so really she has no choice if she wants to
prove she is better and has the stronger ship. Will she
give in and let him make love to her? Or will she fight him
all the way because he brings out feelings in her that she
doesn't like or is afraid to let lose because then that
would mean that this man means more to her than she wants. Gunther Morningsky is an alien crossbreed. He loves the
race and loves taunting strong, beautiful Starla. When he
catches her trying to sabotage his ship he knows that he is
offered the best present he could have ever won or wanted;
to make love to Starla. He knows she won't want to be
stopped from racing, so he has her where he wants her. When
their bodies touch, heat explodes between them that shocks
them both. Can this just stop for Gunther when he has had
her body in every way possible? Or will it suck him farther
in because she is everything he could have ever desired or
dreamed for in a woman? I have loved Kate Hill's stories for years. She knows how
to write a story to where you are wrapped up in the story
line along with the characters. I loved the story of
Gunther and Starla, the play they had off of each other,
the rivalry. Gunther is so strong willed and "Hot" and
Starla is a take charge woman that knew what she wanted,
that made the story. No matter what Kate Hill writes about,
she builds great and strong surroundings that you feel you
are a part of, in the story. That to me shows a gifted
writer and story teller.

For a year rivalry has burned between spaceship pilots Starla Midnight of Amazurn and Gunther Morningsky, an overbearing alien crossbreed who oozes more testosterone than a bull in mating season. She can still hear his infuriating laughter when her engine fizzled out before last year’s Speed of Light race -- the most popular race in the galaxy. This year she plans to give the jerk a dose of his own stinkin’ medicine.
Before the race she attempts to sabotage his engine but is caught in the act by Gunther himself. Chained in the alien’s lair, she’s given two choices. If she makes love with him, he’ll release her in time for the race. If she refuses he’ll hold her until after the race. Either way he’s guaranteed to win, so it matters little to him. Starla can’t let a challenge like that slip by, not when she knows her ship is fast enough to blow Morningsky’s out of space. She’ll submit to the gorgeous alien’s lustful kisses and body hotter than volcanic rocks. It’s a tough decision, but a woman’s got to do what a woman’s got to do. Publisher's note: This novella takes place in the same universe as the Softspeakers series and GreatSword's Woman, but it is not necessary to have read these previous titles in order to enjoy Savage Amusement.
