Eli Chance is a Hostage Recovery Specialist who has done
work with a mercenary group in the past, The Falcon
Mercenary Group. While on a mission things went terribly
wrong and the team containing a member of Falcon is exposed
to a hideous chemical. For Eli though, things are
different, his response to the chemical is different,
because he's different. Eli Chance is a shifter. He's
also drop dead sexy as all get out and one very dominant,
in charge man, in charge of everything. In control is the
way Eli likes it. That is, he was in control until he
meets a beauty that takes his control and his breath away,
too bad she takes a lot more from him as well. Eli is
stunned by how badly he wants her in his bed, but soon he
finds his mystery woman is not what she appeared at all.
Why is she looking for him, what does she want and when he
finds out, will he be able to refuse her anything she
desires of him? Eli isn't too sure about much at the
moment, but he knows one thing for sure, things are getting
deadly, and he is going to find out all he can about his
beautiful mystery woman. Question is, how deep will it get
him and his team into something they can't risk, and can he
risk the possibility that his shifting abilities will be
revealed to the world? Tyana Berezovsky's brother Damiano is her life, she would
do anything it takes to help him, help he needs ever since
he returned from a terrible mission gone wrong. Damiano
was exposed to a chemical that is now changing him,
changing him in horrible and uncontrollable ways. Tyana
fears for him with everything in her, so much so she is
even willing to give her body for a chance to find a cure
for his worsening condition. She gets a chance all right,
Eli Chance to be exact, and the effect he has on her is
equally as devastating as the chemical is on D. Now she
has no idea what to believe as she is completely mystified
by her reaction to the intense, sexually electrifying, very
dominate and very dangerous Mr. Chance. However, if he can
help her brother in any way Ty knows she must use Eli,
being pulled towards Eli is becoming unavoidable. The
problem for Ty is that she isn't reacting to Eli as just an
assignment, and getting close is an impossible task in
trust for people like them. Trust is something she has
very little of in this world. For her, trusting this man
with her life, her heart and her secrets is terrifying and
could be deadly. Besides, it's impossible, she's a woman
who's damaged goods, right? When Eli and Tyana come together sparks doesn't even begin
to describe their chemistry. Explosions and rapid gun fire
does describe their heat and attraction. Together they
must unravel the mystery of this chemical and the reactions
it's created on those attacked. It's one twist and turn
after another, a high end adrenaline rush against time.
Running a gauntlet, because that's all they can do when
time is running out for all of them. However, there's a
little matter of trust at hand, can they trust each other
enough to get the job done, can they trust enough to
confront their intense reactions to each other? The
biggest question of all is whether or not D has the time
left. Can they save him before he falls to the horrible
shifting destroying him? Maya Banks never disappoints and this is just another
example, she is fantastic. Into the Mist is hot, exciting,
emotional and impossible to put down right from page one!
Seriously, page one! Ms. Banks always brings excellent
action, excitement and fantastic humor to her work, but she
also brings electrifying sexual attraction and melds it
with such emotion and depth that you can't help but get
involved with the characters. Eli is incredible, so very
honorable, protective and so very alpha, he's simply
delicious! Tyana is beautiful, talented in the art of
being a mercenary in her own right, yet with so many layers
of vulnerabilities it breaks your heart at times. Their
emotional responses to each other are touching as well as
breathtakingly sexy. Each character has me dying for their
story to be told. Into the Mist is a must read and I
highly recommend it to everyone, you can't go wrong with a
shape shifter in my mind, but Maya is over the top
fantastic! I can't wait for the next book in The Falcon
Mercenary Group series, it's going to be a huge success.
I don't think there will be a story I won't have to have
the second it comes out.
