"A wonderful trip back to the world of Psy and Changelings!"
Talin McKade can't believe she's doing this. After this
long and she still knows Clay Bennett will help her. In
fact, he may be the only one who can. See, Talin and Clay
have a long history together. Right after she was born,
Talin was abandoned by her mother and put into the system.
As a child, one foster father after another abused her. One
day, she looked out the window and saw a young boy injured
and broke the rules to call for help and went to sit with
him until someone came. That was the start of their
friendship. Even though Talin was only human and Clay was
Changeling, Talin knew Clay would never hurt her and would
always do his best to protect her. Of course, that
friendship came to an abrupt end when Clay viciously
murdered Talin's foster father when he caught the man
strangling Talin. Traumatized, Talin had nightmares of
blood and brains and just how violent Clay could easily
become. She was heartbroken when he ended up in juvenile
detention because she knew how difficult it would be for
Clay to be incarcerated. At least the foster family she was
sent to was good to her, but she would never allow them
close and moved away from them just as soon as she could.
Now employed by Shine, an organization that helps kids,
Talin does what she can to help other children. When those
children turn up missing and then their bodies are found
horribly mutilated, Talin has nowhere to turn but to Clay. When Clay attained his majority and was released from
incarceration, he was found by a member of the DarkRiver
pack and joined them. After all, Clay was raised by his
human mother and never met his Changeling father so he had
no idea how other Changelings behaved. Eventually, he
learned to accept his leopard and live with it, but he is
still very close to going rogue. Now Clay is a powerful
Sentinel in the pack, but he never forgot Talin, even
though he was told she was killed in a car crash. So when
he's breaking up a fight in a Changeling bar, he can't
believe it when he catches her scent, but there's something
wrong in it. When Talin tries to run away from him, Clay
pursues her and catches her. He is so furious that she
allowed him to think she was dead, but he can smell her
fear. Now he's in shock. Tally, his Tally, is afraid of him! When Talin asks Clay for his help, she gets a lot more than
she bargained for when the entire pack joins in to find the
one missing child still alive. The wrongness Clay detected
in Tally's scent is because she's sick. She has something
wrong in her brain and it causes her to have fugues when
she doesn't remember what she does. Is there a chance for Clay and Talin? Will she be able to
let go of her fear of Clay? Will he be able to forgive her
for all the missing years? What of the missing children?
Who is behind taking them? Will they be able to find the
one still alive? Will Talin become a target? And what is
Talin's illness? MINE TO POSSESS is a wonderfully thrilling, touching story.
Once again, Nalini Singh shows her extraordinary talent in
bringing these two very wounded people together. Talin is
forced to look inside herself to find out why she cut off
all contact with Clay, and it has nothing to do with her
foster father's murder. Not to mention how overwhelmed
Talin is by Clay's pack and how everyone cares about each
other. And then we have Clay, still on the edge. Finally
reunited with his childhood friend, he vows to never let
her go. He knows she is his mate, but will he ever be able
to get her to realize it? One thing I really love about
this series is how Nalini Singh brings together two wounded
people and they become whole. And the fact we get to catch
up with all the other characters is just an added bonus.
This is one series I highly recommend and have!
