"a powerful story"
Tristan couldn't believe what had happened, the deaths and
near genocide of his people. But Tristan is on a mission to
save who he can, to save the last of the few survivors at
any cost. He will even go up the mountain to find them,
they all have to work together to find a future after
losing so much. There had been a Staircase that linked
Temple Green with Celestial Ridge, but during the war it
was torn down, ruined to where it isn't usable. And on the
other side of that staircase the love of his life, his
lover. In losing the staircase, he lost his lover, but he
is not willing to lose him after all he has lost already.
He will climb the mountain to the man that he loves to see
if he is alive and rescue who ever else is there with him.
He has been apart from Trinity, who he loves, but times had
put them as enemies. After all he has lost he isn't willing
to lose Trinity also. He will fight for a future with this
man, the future that will have them together and beginning
to build their world again. D.J. Manly is a strong writer that brings the world she
writes alive in the reader's eyes. This story was powerful
and sad; Tristan had lost so much when his people had been
killed in the war. The bridge that ran between Temple Green
and Celestial Ridge had been torn down. The bridge was what
brought him to the man he loves. But over time the lovers
had become enemies due to the war. The two of them had lost
enough, and going through all they had, they saw that life
was too short and they had to live for today. I know that
any time I see D.J. Manly books; I can't read them fast
enough.

Amidst devastation and the near genocide of his people, Tristan is determined to rescue the very last of the survivors, even if he has to drag himself back up the mountain to do it. There was a staircase once which linked Temple Green and Celestial Ridge, a staircase which was torn down when the war began…a staircase which carried him to his lover. Tristan will once again climb the mountain to Celestial Ridge in order to rescue any remaining survivors. And after nine years of separation, he will face Trinity, his enemy and the man he still desperately loves.
