Awaking from a dream of his long lost brother, Immortal Adrian sees a demon hanging over him. When something distracts the demon, he turns form Adrian and disappears with a distant woman's scream. Created to keep the balance of good and evil Adrian must follow.

In a dark warehouse, witch Amber tries to find the reason why her sister had died. Her circle of protection is suddenly tested by a demon, a very old demon.

The sudden entrance of our "hero" Adrian saves Amber. However, the demon escapes and so the chase begins.

THE CALLING is fast-paced with likable characters and I admit that shape-shifters are my favorite -- you have to love that dragon. Personally, I do not care as much for books with an occult theme. As first book of a series, THE CALLING gives a great hook, and if the others are as well written, this series will make for great summer reading.

While investigating the murder of her sister, Amber is rescued from a demon attack by Adrian, a leather-coated, sword-toting warrior.

Together they discover that the demon is an Old One, determined to drain life from the world, and he's convinced Tain, the youngest Immortal, to turn on his brothers and help him.

The only way to stop them is to gather the remaining Immortals in one place--but the spell to do it has been lost, and the Immortals no longer want to play nice...
