"poignant m/m romance"

Graham had always known no matter what, he and Tommy would be friends forever. They had known each other their whole lives, been through the good times and the bad times with each other. As they got older their friendship went from love as a friend to love as in "I love you and can't live without you". To be openly gay in Lincoln County, there was just no way. The stress of not being able to share who they love was starting to wear on each of them. Then on top of that Tommy is enlisted to go to Iraq. To not have him there for a year was tearing Graham apart. All Graham knows is that he loves this man more than anything and can't give him up, he won't give him up. Will Graham be able to find a way to go on while Tommy is away?? Will he be able to protect Tommy when someone sets out to target Gay's? All Graham wants to do is protect the love of his life from all the hateful people that want to hurt his lover and his friends?

Tommy had always known that he and Graham would be together, but when he is called away to Iraq for a year, he can't wait to get back to show his lover that no matter what they will always be together. When he comes back, he isn't the man he used to be. Then things around Lincoln County start to get ugly when vandalism is targeting gays. His lover and the town Sheriff want to protect him, the other platoon members, and his friends. Can Graham help Tommy through the pain of his experience in Iraq? Can they fight the ignorance of the town's people, make them understand that you love who you fall in love with, no matter the gender?

Sarah Black wrote one of the "Greatest" stories I have read, and I have read some great ones lately. But when it comes to m/m romance this is at the top of my list. I love the way that Ms. Black wrote the relationship between these two men, it was so romantic that it made me cry at times, laugh at times, and just sigh at times. To be able to do that is the sign of a "Great Book". I cannot wait to read more by this author!

SUMMARY

The men of Lincoln County grow up strong and proud, their characters forged by tradition and the harsh and beautiful land of the High Lonesome. But gay isn't part of the Cowboy Way.

Graham and Tommy have been together their whole lives, best friends, and lovers. But they live in Lincoln County, and the strain of keeping their relationship hidden was already beginning to tell on them when Tommy was called up to go to war. A year in Iraq, and Graham fears that time and distance have severed their connection. He's not giving up, though; it's not in his nature.

Tommy came back from the war changed, they all did. But Tommy Lathrop is the Sheriff of Lincoln County and that hasn't changed. When vandalism targeting gays turns ugly, and a returning vet seems to be implicated, Tommy steps in. He's determined to protect his lover, his platoon mates and all of Lincoln County -- the life and people he loves. No matter the cost to himself.

Together, Graham and Tommy, their friends and family, will save Lincoln County, and in the process restore themselves.
