"realistic portrayal of a difficult subject"
After working for Liam for four years, Liam has seen how
Alex wasn't able to get past the abuse he had gone through
as a child; the pain and the fear of his father raping
him. All Liam wanted to do was to help Alex through this
so he could have some kind of a normal life, to be able to
love, to be able to be touched. So Liam shows him that
making love is beautiful, loving and not just all about
pain and the other person's pleasure. It is now three
weeks later and Alex is feeling lust and can't control how
he feels for Liam. What neither of them realizes is that
the Cross Artifact they took on from a customer has the
power to pull the evil that is inside of you and bring it
out. Alex and Liam share another night of passion that
shows them both that they have more than lust for each
other, they have love also. But Liam is dreaming of his
past where he was a monster, he would take blood from
anyone, drain them, kill them. He wakes up to the taste of
blood, having broken the skin on Alex's neck. Liam tears
himself apart because in his eyes he did what Alex's
father had done, took something from Alex without asking
him first. When Alex begins to lose control, will they
realize what is happening before it is too late? Will Alex
be able to forgive himself, let go of the pain? This story was very well written on a subject that is hard
to tell, and read. I am one of those survivors of rape, so
I can say with 100 % that she wrote it very well, came
across with the feelings that a person does feel. I loved
the way she wrote how Alex and Liam need each other;
because Liam had also been through someone taking his
choices away, he can understand what Alex is going
through. I hope that Elizabeth Jewell writes more on these
two, I would be first in line to read them.
