In 1577 Japan, hard times have taken there toll in the
small village of Zozuke. On the outskirts of the village,
childhood friends Sakurai and Kiyoshi share a small home
that is in terrible disrepair. Kiyoshi is sickly and
Sakurai fears losing him to the same illness that has
taken his mother and so many of the villagers of late.
They struggle to survive through the hardships by
supporting each other physically and emotionally, and
their close bond gradually grows into something more. Sakurai, being half Chinese, has had to endure bigotry and
has never been accepted by the village women. Kiyoshi
alone has accepted him without judgment and loved him as a
brother. As their emotional bond deepens, they take
comfort in each other physically. On a dark night, the
arrival of a wounded stranger will change their lives for
ever. When the Samurai, Kuro, offers gratification and
power, Sakurai is seduced into an existence of blood lust
and violence. Under Kuro's compulsion, they are unable to
stop their descent into darkness, but would they choose to
if they could? Will Sakurai's new found power forge a
closer bond with Kiyoshi, or tear them apart? Kuro has
dark plans of his own. In BLOOD BROTHERS, authors Barbara Sheridan and Anne Cain
have created a dark and ominous atmosphere where readers
will believe in the evils that roam the pages of their
story. It is a darkly erotic fantasy with elements of
horror, but at the heart of the story is a deep love that
drives the characters' actions. The authors write in a
flowing, elegant style that pulls the readers down the
dark path to madness along with Sakurai and Kiyoshi. A
warning, the story contains graphic sex and violence, so
may not appeal to delicate readers. BLOOD BROTHERS is a
must read for readers who enjoy their fantasy dark with a
touch of horror, and for fans of the Yaoi genre.
