"Dark Thirst is a masterful read!"
As child, Brandon Noble is attacked, his throat slit and
head trauma that is so severe he is left without his
hearing. He grows up within the family unit called the
Brethren, a vampire dynasty that dominates the Kentucky
landscape. Because of his injuries, most of his family
considers him damaged and an unfit member. Even with the torment and pain inflicted by siblings and
family members, Brandon still manages to keep his
humanity, when the rest have let the bloodletting rule
their lives, taking lives without thought or care. But not
Brandon, he fights against becoming the horrible creatures
his family turns into during that time. He escapes to his
former deaf teacher's apartment, fleeing to keep from
becoming a monster like the rest of the Brethrens. Jackson Jones' sister, Lina, finds a stranger in her
brother's apartment she is watching while he is out of
town. She spies a nude, dripping wet man that she does not
recognize at first until she subdues him. Brandon's scar
from ear to ear is the clear giveaway to his identity. He
is nothing like Lina remembers. He is no longer that
scrawny kid her brother used to tutor, but a finely
muscled man that takes her breath away. When she finds out
why Brandon is at her brother's apartment, she will become
involved in a dangerous web that weaves them together from
that point on. Dark Thirst is the first book in a series by authoress
Sara Reinke. In a vein that is constantly drawn from, Ms.
Reinke crafted brilliantly contrived characters that will
break your heart, make you thirst for justice, while
getting caught up in the tale. The writing is so well
done, you will swear you taste, feel, and experience the
lives of the characters as the story unfolds. In the beginning of this novel, it seemed hard to think
Ms. Reinke would be able to give the character of Brandon,
mute and unable to hear, and the disparaging way in which
his family treated him, viability--believability. Not only
did Brandon capture this reader's attention, but her heart
too. His unfailing courage and ability to cope in
situations most would crumble, coupled with the woman that
would enter his life, made the world fall away and time
cease to exist. In this novel, Ms. Rienke's talent outshines most of the
top authors in the field of paranormal romance. Dark
Thirst is a masterful read! The next book in the series, not yet titled, will be about
Rene and Tessa, characters you will meet in Dark Thirst.
This reviewer cannot wait to see what Ms. Reinke conjures
up for them.
