REVIEW

"a tight story with humor and strong characters"

Maya Eddings is used to being her own woman, running a private security firm in Kansas City lets her do just that; being an empath and six foot tall doesn't hurt either. Maya has a few problems, one of them being her on & off again boyfriend Matt Brewer, who happens to also live in the same building as her. His other side, the wolf, loves her dominate side and wants to make her his mate and she has no desire to go all furry.

Another of her problems is Stephen Daniels, her best friend's younger brother who has grown up into a yummy package. He is part incubus and quick to point out, not of the demon variety. As a favor to her best friend she agrees to be his stand in date and ends up being a witness.

Maya has a mystery to solve while trying to fight off two gorgeous men and not shoot anyone, what's a girl to do?

Packing Heat is aptly named, this book is packed with action to romance and the paranormal elements are just icing on the cake. This is Hannah Beckham's début book but reads like a pro, she weaves a tight story with humor, strong characters and a kick-ass heroine that will have you begging her to write more.

SUMMARY

Maya Eddings, a six-foot empath, owns a private security firm in Kansas City. Whether she's wearing sneakers or Prada, she never leaves home without her best accessory, a 9mm handgun. Maya's life couldn’t be better, with the exception of two men who want her to be exclusively theirs. Matt Brewer is an investigator for a law firm, and a werewolf. He wants Maya to be his life mate, but while she likes a little tail, actually growing one isn't all that appealing to her. Besides, his mother hates her.

Stephen Daniels, architect and part incubus demon, thinks Maya can be the cure to his incessant one-night stands. He wants her -- body and soul. Okay, really he just wants her body. But Stephen's her best friend’s younger brother and that could get sticky.

With a mystery to solve and two hunkalicious men fighting for her attention, Maya’s beginning to wonder if she's bitten off more than she can shoot.
