Back history: When Damali turned twenty-one, she gained her full powers as the Neteru Queen and Vampire Huntress. Carlos, her longtime friend strays to the dark side and becomes a Master Vampire. Damali and Carlos are on opposite sides, but their bond to each other remains unbroken. They marry within the Dark Realm and pay dearly for their indiscretion.

In the opening of The Forbidden, the Guardian team is deeply wounded. Their faith and confidence is shattered in the last battle. Damali is suffering mentally from Carlos' death and the loss of their child. She can't seem to pull herself out of her depression. The Light summons her to the Council of the Neterus. Damali meets the first Neteru, Eve and here she learns about the other Neterus before her. Damali is punished for recklessness and poor sense of judgment when it comes to her relationship with Carlos. She is stripped of her weapon, and will have to earn her place again. Damali will have to reunite her Guardian team and regain their favor and trust. They resurrect Carlos, but the Light has changed him, making him unsure where his place should be.

While Damali and Carlos discover where their destiny will lead them, they must fight their enemies. Satan's wife, Lillith has stolen something precious. At all cost, she must be stopped before Armageddon is started. A vampire is sent to wipe out Damali and the Guardian team, but she has her own secret agenda.

Ms. Banks spins a tale revolving around religion and mythology with a butt-kicking team of vampire/demon fighters to keep evil under control. Every book gives you more insight to the world of Neterus, Guardians, and the underworld. Devoted fans will not be disappointed.

I highly recommend a new reader to start from the beginning so not to miss anything. It will be well worth your time.

She also learns that the consort of the Un-Named One, Lilith, has come up from the seventh level to set the affairs of the Dark Realms in order. However, Lilith has a hidden agenda of her own and it involves the unborn child Damali thought had been taken from her. The news devastates Damali until a cold and deadly determination leads her to map out a plan for Lilith's destruction. An evil force beyond recognition, Damali's newest nemesis literally brings men to their knees. But Damali will not be stopped---not even by someone as dangerously powerful as Lilith. It is a battle that spills over into the streets and involves the people Damali has sworn to protect, leaving fewer standing before it's all over.
