"Wonderful, heartwarming story of May/ December romance!"
Trif Clover, from one of the most prolific of the Celtan
middle class families, knows she has a Heart Mate out
there somewhere. Since Heart Mates are not at all common
in her family, not to mention the fact she actually has
Flair, Trif is determined to find him. To this end, Trif
has created a Charm Key, which will enable her to unlock
the door of her Heart Mate's residence. Even though she
can play a variety of musical instruments, and very
beautifully, Trif works in her family's furniture store.
Trif's ability is to see the past, but she can't control
her Flair. Guardsman Ilex Winterberry, on the other hand, knows
exactly who his Heart Mate is. However, he has absolutely
no intention of claiming her. For one thing, she is quite
a bit younger than he is and has yet to go through her
final passage. For another, Ilex has a slight talent in
precognition and he has seen his death in dreams from a
young age. Since the dreams are now occurring rather close
together, he knows his death isn't that far in the future
and he refuses to allow his Heart Mate to die when he
does. Even though he refuses to claim her, he cannot stay
away from her. The fact that there are murders happening
with young people with unstable Flair and Fams, Ilex is
very worried about Trif, his Heart Mate. Once Trif gets a
FamKitten, Greyku, Ilex stays even closer to Trif because
she fits the profile of the victims. Will Trif become another victim in the murders? Will
Ilex's prophetic dream come true? Will he ever be able to
solve the murders? Will Trif ever find her Heart Mate? And
if so, will Ilex claim her? HEART QUEST is proof positive that some series can get
better with each and every new book. Author Robin D. Owens
is one of my favorite authors and this story is one reason
why. The whole Celtan world is so wonderful and fantastic
with Flair and Fams and GreatLords and especially Heart
Mates. One of the reasons I really love this series is
because I get the opportunity to learn what happens with
characters I've already come to know and love. Each story
in this series allows me to catch up with those characters
I know. I have to say, my favorite character in this one
is Greyku and how she always wants "more" of everything,
from tinting to food. The characters in HEART QUEST are
all richly portrayed and remain true to themselves. The
added murder investigation adds an element of danger and
suspense. And I have to admit, I cried at the end of this
one. The highest accolade a book can get. HEART QUEST has
its place on my keeper shelf, is it in yours?
